Shining a light on students making a difference

Stigma and discrimination have no place in the future. Embracing the next generation and empowering them to find solutions to challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community is the foundation for the Dr. Gary Blick Scholarship. The scholarship not only takes into consideration financial need but also a student’s community minded efforts and future plans to make change in support of the LGBTQ+ community.

Thank you for your interest in the Dr. Gary Blick Scholarship Fund. The application window has closed. Winners will be announced in May. The next application window will open February 15, 2025.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the scholarship, students must:

1. Be a Connecticut resident  

2. Plan to attend an accredited 4-year college or university 

3. Demonstrate financial need via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

4. Have completed or be in the process of completing high school

5. Have a minimum GPA of 3.0

6. Submit at least one letter of recommendation from a non-family member

7. Demonstrate advocacy and/or allyship for the LGBTQ+ community through group membership (e.g. Gay-Straight Alliance), participation in awareness campaigns, efforts to fight stigma and discrimination, etc. Additionally, share any details regarding the intention to pursue a career that will serve the community.
